Past Lectures
June 13, 2005, Dr. Carolyn Boyd spoke at a meeting of Leadership Texas: A Program of the Foundation for Women's Resources in Houston, Texas. The title of her presentation was
The Rocks Speak: Leadership in the 21st Century . . . B.C. It was described in the meeting agenda as follows: Hidden in the sprawling canyons of Southwest Texas and northern Mexico is a story. It's a story of people much like us; a story filled with emotion and triumph; a story told with the same hands that hunted for food and nurtured generations of children; and, a story told on the surface of rocks. Dr. Carolyn E. Boyd, executive director of the SHUMLA School will examine how rock art left by prehistoric people of Texas tells the story of their lives. This rich and powerful presentation will explore how art, technology and communication merged in prehistoric Texas, leaving an indelible legacy.
