S.W. (Bill) Cauthorn

Bill Cauthorn was born in Del Rio, Texas, and raised on a ranch at Juno, also in Val Verde County, Texas.  He spent much time at Pandale, courting his future wife.

Bill graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Industrial Engineering and worked for Ingersol-Rand in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a sales engineer for three years.

Returning to Texas Mr. Cauthorn has been in the banking business for more than 45 years as President of The Bank and Trust in Del Rio and President of Westex Bancorp, Inc.  He is now retired as an officer from both companies but still serves as a director.  Bill is also Chairman of the Board of Anco Insurance Managers in Bryan, Texas.

Bill has been involved with SHUMLA since 2005. He is very interested in preserving the history of southwest Texas and specifically the historic artwork of Ancient Americans.  In addition, he is focused on teaching the history of the region to local school children.
