Pecos School Programs

Environmental and cultural history programs, taught by SHUMLA instructors, are conducted in schools across the state. Some of the programs offered include Buffalo as Industry, Indians of Texas, Prehistoric Art of Texas, and Making Paint the Prehistoric Way.

Location
SHUMLA School instructors will travel to the school requesting the program.

Duration
Pecos School Programs vary in duration, however, the typical program is taught during the course of one class period. It may then be repeated throughout the day to several classes in the same school.

Instructors
Instructors include educators, archeologists, botanists, biologists, geologists, astronomers, artists, and historians, as well as experts in a wide range of other areas, such as Native American lifeways and adventure challenge activities.

Cost
Instructor transportation to and from the venue site is underwritten by gifts to the SHUMLA School. Limited scholarships have also been made available to cover the instructor's honorarium.

Registration
Contact Craig Hensley at chensley@shumla.org or call the SHUMLA office at 432-292-4848.
