DESERT
A poem by: Tyler Frazier,
St. Stephens Episcopal School, Wimberley, Texas

360° view all around me
I can see for a while
Blue open skies with not even a single cloud
The Cactus blooming
The Yucca growing taller
Not a building in sight
Only open spaces
The sound of insects chirping
This makes me wonder
Is life really this simple
Sometimes it is
Sometimes it isn't
All that I know is that I've got desert fever
Not a sickness
Just a liking for this land
And a liking for what's natural around me
Yes, the desert is my true calling!
