Pecos Experience: The Art and Archeology of the Lower Pecos

1:00 p.m.–
3:00 p.m.

Arrive at Seminole Canyon State Park and Historic Site. Overview of the week's activities. Tour interpretive center and Fate Bell Shelter with Kathleen Burgess.

 

4:00 p.m.

Welcome to SHUMLA Campus by Dr. Carolyn Boyd, Executive Director. Get settled into the tents.

 

5:00 p.m.

Build an earth oven with Dr. Phil Dering which will be used to cook lechuguilla and sotol. Neal Stilley starts the fire using primitive technology.

 

6:00 p.m.

Dinner.

 

Sunset Slide presentation and lecture by Dr. Jean Clottes, featured scholar and speaker, Discoveries in the Painted Caves: Cosquer, Chauvet, and Cussac.
