Prehistory on the Pecos: Rock Art of the Lower Pecos
|
|||||||||
| Seventeen participants attended a Prehistory on the Pecos: Rock Art of the Lower Pecos program that took place on February 26th. The day's activities had to be modified as we experienced an unusually rainy day in the Lower Pecos. All participants met at Seminole Canyon State Park and toured the interpretative center with Kathleen Burgess. The afternoon featured Paint Making the Prehistoric Way with Dr. Carolyn Boyd, as well as flintknapping demonstrations by Steve Norman and basket weaving, using native materials, by Brenda Norman. The evening's activities included a bison barbeque and venison tamale dinner, then a lecture by Dr. Boyd on the Rock Art of the Lower Pecos. This program was presented with partners The Rock Art Foundation and The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department . If your group is interested in arranging a program like this, contact the program division at programs@shumla.org or call the SHUMLA office |
