Prehistory on the Pecos: Rock Art of the Lower Pecos
December 11, 2004


Sixteen participants attended a Prehistory on the Pecos: Rock Art of the Lower Pecos program that took place on December 11th. The day began with a discussion of local plants and their uses by Dr. Phil Dering, followed by a guided tour of Fate Bell Shelter, located at Seminole Canyon State Park and Historic Site. This was lead by SHUMLA's Executive Director Dr. Carolyn Boyd and Elton Prewitt. After lunch, the group took a tour of White Shaman Shelter. The evening's activities took place at the SHUMLA campus and included a bison barbeque dinner, then a lecture by Dr. Boyd on the Rock Art of the Lower Pecos. This program was presented with partners The Rock Art Foundation and The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department .
